My nephew, Townes, had his very first birthday party last weekend and of course I was there to document the festivities. I don’t think he quite understood what was going on, giving his mom and dad inquisitive looks as everyone stared at him and sang Happy Birthday. But he did enjoy the cake smash which of course is the most importrant part of a first birthday.

I’ve taken a few photos of Townes here and there, but this was his first official photo session. For the first few minutes he just stared and stared at this unfamiliar object I shoved in his face (my camera and myself), trying to make sense of what was going on. He’ll get used to it after a few times though cause this kiddo will be getting his photo taken a lot by me since I’m his aunt! We spent the day hanging out in his room where he showed me his toys and favorite books. Then we let his four-legged brothers in, hung out on the porch (I sure do love a porch with a swinging bench), and then it was nap time! His first birthday is approaching so there will definitely be photos of that on the blog soon. Love you Townes! – Aunt Laura
